Happy New Year to One and All ~

Starting this new year off with a very special kirtan offering...

We have a wonderful upcoming opportunity to Be with Yvette and her beloved band at a unique venue in Center "Siddhi" Philly at Bikram Yoga of Philadelphia a.k.a Center Siddhi Yoga...

Next Friday evening, January 7th at 7:00 P.M.

This is an extraordinarily beautiful community that reaches out from heart depth in vibration and vegan Prasad dinner following the kirtan.  The intention of this loving community is Pure and far-reaching, asking a nominal suggested donation of $10 for adults and $7 for students which covers two ecstatic hours of chanting and a catered vegan dinner by Govinda's Gourmet Vegetarian Restaurant.

It is our deepest desire to make kirtan accessible to all; and in this special venue Yvette and I joyfully share this vision with our friends at Center Siddhi Yoga.  Please join us for this unique kirtan experience... Nourish your soul and your belly!

Many blessings for a New Year filled with songs in your heart ~

                                          Reflections of Bhakti Fest ~

September’s Bhakti Fest, a meeting of souls drawn together for the love of Mother and the love of Divine Creation. Located in the hot desert sun of Joshua Tree, California, the clear blue skies abounding assured that our resounding voices and prayers would make a non-stop connection to the ever expanding heavens above. The angels were there chanting with us.

In this time of material struggle and attachment, it is a gift to immerse oneself in an atmosphere of heightened spirit. There were continuous yoga/meditation workshops, many of which evolved to include live music, chanting and dance at the beginning and end of class. The beauty here is that the expectation and pressure of having to ‘perform’ a perfect yoga asana was not present; only pure love and devotional expression of body, mind and spirit.

We are coming into a new age of enlightenment.  An enlightenment less focused on body pleasures, although such pleasures are not to be denied, but more in harmony with the enlightenment of the spirit. In order for this to be achieved, a new simplicity of lifestyle has emerged, one that is more self dependant, as we strive for more self-approval and  integration of wholeness of being.

So many beautiful souls gather at Bhakti Fest. All beautiful women and men, celebrating children, loved ones and friends. No need to speak, but a connection via the three eyes, deep into the soul of a stranger, the eyes of a mirror reflecting back the love-light we all are.

Every moment filled with beautiful music, sometimes not present, but still somewhere off in the not so far distance, one can hear and feel the devotional chanting passionately stirring. The vendors all graciously offering their beautiful wares, swaying to the rhythm of an ever present song. Nothing forced or put upon, just a refreshing welcome to come and take a look if so inspired.

And the food….well, what can one say when there are watermelon icies, chakra juices, coconut ice creams and organic delicious food made from the hands of likeminded friends.

Brimming with Divine Love, I quietly seek the gentle arms of nature and silence.  Feet dusty and body dry, I walk out into the desert, step by step.  Free from thought, body tingling, I come upon a tall Joshua tree.  Torso taut, leafy green and spongy, I sit with this Mother tree and hug her as if she were myself. “I love you” I confess to the tree. “I love you with all my heart”.  And tears falling down my blemished face, I find a deep inner peace that feels like it could last this lifetime….

My deep gratitude to all those who had the foresight and passion to manifest Bhakti Fest.

It was my purest of joys to chant with you ~

Yvette to Date…

Yoga Unites for Living Beyond Breast Cancer

Yvette was again invited to provide live Bhakti music at the 8th Annual Yoga Unites for Living Beyond Breast Cancer.  One thousand yogis, family members, friends and community leaders met on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art—one of the city’s greatest landmarks—for an energizing and inspiring yoga class and major fund raiser.

With live media coverage for NBC News, this venue provided an opportunity for Yvette to create her first music video featuring “Om Namo Bhagavate” from her newly released CD, Into the Arms of Love, now posted on www.YvetteOm.com.

Kindred Spirits Fair and Music Fest

Now in its 16th year, we were pleased to join the Kindred Spirits Fair and Music Fest.  This holistically spirited event held at Mt Eden Retreat, an 180 acre estate, included workshops, speakers, vendors, children's programs, and was highlighted by a special ceremony of world peace with flags of nearly 200 countries represented.  Yvette concluded the ceremony by leading chants for world peace, following into a kirtan concert.

Welcoming Pujya Swamiji and Bhagwatiji

While on tour, visiting the states from the Parmarth Niketan Ashram in India, Yvette was invited to welcome two divine Beings, Pujya Swamiji and Bhagwatiji , with her sacred chants and kirtan.

Sri Swami Satchidananda Ashram, Integral Yoga Institute

We spent three glorious days on these sacred grounds of His Holiness Sri Swami Satchidanandaji Maharaj, filled with yoga, ritual, and meditation, culminating with community and a spirited kirtan.

Bhakti Fest at the Joshua Tree Retreat in Joshua Tree, California

Upcoming in September, Yvette makes her offering among luminaries of kirtan artists, at the annual 4 day Bhakti Fest, an evolutionary spiritual event featuring devotion in its many forms… yoga, workshops, seminars, and round the clock kirtan!

Stay Strong Project

Kirtan artists David Newman (Durga Das) and Mira, in partnership with Global Green have invited Yvette to participate in the recording of the Stay Strong Anthem, a music video, inspired to raise awareness and funds for restoring the Gulf of Mexico to its natural magnificence.  Among the performing chanters will be Krishna Das, Jai Uttal, Donna DeLory, Snatum Kaur, Girish and Wah!

Hello EveryOne,

I am so happy to share with you that we are in the final mixing stages of Into the Arms of Love. As many of you know, this is my first CD, the first of many I hope to bring forth as the Kirtan Journey continues to call and reach!

I can not thank you enough for all of your support in this offering, as it is in response to your persistent “Do you have a CD?” that ultimately prompted this symphony of song and heart…Ommmm ~

We are in the beginning stages of planning our very first “CD Release Party” to be set for the end of March/beginning of April and I will keep you posted as this date becomes clearer.

To date, our line-up of PA/DE kirtan concerts is as follows: Yoga On Main on February 27th, Yoga Unites on May 26th, and back in Arden on June 26th.

There are such openings available to us when we embrace the innate intelligence of essential sound. By its very nature, music seduces the habitual thinking mind into higher states of presence, relieving the stress of day to day, inviting new patterns of Universal Thought and Universal Creativity to penetrate, to brighten and ultimately to awaken!  I invite you to use your voices whenever you can. Sing in the shower, sing driving in the car; sing songs of love, of Mother Earth, songs of Peace and Regeneration; chant by the fire, chant before going to bed, chant with all your heart and being the mantras that intimately speak to you, whisper them ever so softly on the wings of your breath and when a warm chill stirs from deep within your heart then you can be assured this mantra is for you!

I so look forward to Being/Chanting/Singing  together ~

New Year Greetings from Marsha...

Namaste EveryONE ~

All blessings in this promising New Year of 2010 ~

Reflecting upon my own personal journey and of that with Yvette, I realize my heart is leading me in all the right directions. Inspired to make this offering with Yvette, as I see the many hearts and souls it stirs. I see it at the homeless shelter, I see it at the kirtans... I hear it in my heart and I receive it in my soul. And, gratefully, I see so many of you receiving this offering with depth and gratitude. It was strikingly moving to see so many of you attend our most recent kirtan in December... 70 hearts trekking through an icy snowstorm to chant with us! How deeply honored we were.

A friend shared with me recently that she does not understand anything about energy or vibrations, but she tells me, "All I know is I showed up at your kirtan filled with stress, I closed my eyes, I chanted with you, and I left there completely relaxed." That is my inspiration and my affirmation.

Last summer I had the distinct privilege to meet my spiritual inspiration, renown humanitarian and spiritual leader, Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma.) She put it best...

“…through the one-pointedness (of chanting), one can merge in the Divine Being and experience the bliss of one’s true self. By letting the mind expand in the sound of divine chanting, each one of us can enjoy the peace born of one’s inherent divinity.”
- Mata Amritananda

Moving forward into the new year, this winter will be devoted to finishing up Yvette's first CD. It has been such an honor and a privilege to journey through the birthing of this CD. It is unfolding in the most beautiful way, filled with heart, soul, and depth. We are all so excited to share it with you!

Later in February, we have scheduled our first kirtan of the year at Yoga on Main... Please SAVE THE DATE: February 27th. More details to follow later this month.

Wishing each of you my very best for a happy and healthy 2010, unlocking your full potential for healing, well-being and a purposeful and meaningful life of awakening to the essence of who you are and your relationship to yourSelf and ALL that is.

Om Shanti Om ~

Marsha
